How to View Burst Photos on Your iPhone

The iPhone’s burst mode is a fantastic feature for capturing action shots, ensuring you get the perfect moment even when things are moving fast. Like professional photographers using rapid-fire cameras, your iPhone can take a quick series of photos, increasing your chances of capturing that fleeting smile or perfectly timed jump. Shooting in burst mode is simple – just press and hold the shutter button. But what happens after you’ve captured these rapid-fire images, and how do you actually view and manage them? Many users find themselves wondering where these burst photos go and how to access them effectively. This guide will walk you through the straightforward steps to view and manage your burst photos on your iPhone, ensuring you never miss out on the best shot from a series.

To begin viewing your burst photos, you’ll need to navigate to the Photos app on your iPhone. This is your central hub for all your captured memories, and it’s where your burst photos are neatly organized.

  1. Open the Photos App: Locate the Photos app icon on your iPhone’s home screen and tap to open it. It’s the icon that looks like a colorful pinwheel.

  2. Navigate to Albums: Once you’re in the Photos app, look at the bottom of the screen. You’ll see several tabs, including “Library,” “For You,” “Albums,” and “Search.” Tap on the “Albums” tab to proceed.

  3. Find the Bursts Album: Within the Albums section, you’ll see various albums like “Recents,” “Favorites,” “Selfies,” and more. Scroll down until you locate the album labeled “Bursts.” This album is automatically created and dedicated to storing all the burst photos you’ve taken. Tap on “Bursts” to open it.

Inside the “Bursts” album, you’ll find all your burst photo series. Each burst series is grouped together, making it easy to review and manage them. To see the individual photos within a burst and choose your favorites, follow these steps:

  1. Select a Burst Photo: Tap on the burst photo series you want to view. Initially, you’ll see a single representative photo from the burst. To access all the photos in the series, you need to proceed to the selection screen.

  2. Tap “Select”: After tapping a burst photo, look at the bottom of the screen. You should see a “Select…” button. Tap this button to enter the selection mode, which allows you to view each photo within the burst.

  3. Review and Choose Photos: Once in the selection mode, you’ll see thumbnails of all the photos in the burst series displayed at the bottom of the screen. Swipe left or right to scroll through each image and review them individually. To select photos you want to keep as individual images in your main photo library, tap on them. A blue checkmark will appear in the corner of each selected photo, indicating your choice. You can select as many photos as you like from the burst.

  4. Tap “Done”: After you’ve reviewed all the photos and selected your favorites, tap “Done” in the top right corner of the screen.

  5. Choose to Keep or Discard: A pop-up window will appear, giving you two options: “Keep Everything” or “Keep Favorites Only.”

    • Keep Everything: Selecting “Keep Everything” will save all photos from the burst series, including the ones you selected as favorites, to your main photo library in addition to keeping the burst series in the “Bursts” album.
    • Keep Favorites Only: Choosing “Keep Favorites Only” will save only the photos you selected with the blue checkmarks to your main photo library and delete the rest of the photos from the burst series. The burst series itself will also be removed from the “Bursts” album if you choose this option and have selected at least one favorite.

Select the option that suits your needs. If you’re unsure, “Keep Everything” is a safe choice, as you can always revisit the burst album later to review and delete photos if needed.

Mastering burst mode on your iPhone can significantly enhance your mobile photography, especially when capturing action, pets, or unpredictable moments. Knowing how to easily view and manage these burst photos ensures that you can quickly find and save the best shots from each series, keeping your photo library organized and clutter-free. By following these simple steps, you can confidently use burst mode and efficiently manage the results directly on your iPhone.
