Attaching Images from Your Photo Library
The most common way to share photos is directly from your photo library. Here’s how:
-
Open the Mail app: Launch the Mail application on your iPhone and start a new email message or reply to an existing one.
-
Tap the insertion point: Touch the area within the email body where you want to insert the photo. This will bring up the keyboard and a toolbar above it. Tap the arrow icon to expand the toolbar if needed.
-
Select the photo icon: Look for the photo icon and tap it. This will open your photo library.
-
Choose your photo: Browse your albums and select the picture you want to attach. You can select multiple photos if needed by tapping on each one.
-
Insert the photo: After selecting your photo(s), tap “Done” to insert them into your email. The photos will appear inline or as attachments at the end of the email, depending on their size.
Attaching Other File Types
Besides photos, you can also attach other files, such as videos or documents:
-
Access the attachment menu: Follow steps 1 and 2 from the previous section. Instead of the photo icon, tap the paperclip icon . This will open the Files app.
-
Navigate to your file: Locate the file you wish to attach within the Files app. You can browse through different locations like iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, or other cloud storage services.
-
Select and attach: Tap the file you want to attach. It will be added to your email.
Scanning Documents as PDFs
Need to send a paper document? Your iPhone can scan it and attach it as a PDF:
-
Open the attachment menu: Follow steps 1 and 2 from the “Attaching Images” section.
-
Select the scan icon: Tap the scan icon .
-
Scan your document: Position your iPhone camera over the document and it will automatically scan. You can also manually capture the scan by tapping the shutter button or a volume button.
-
Review and save: After scanning, you can review and adjust the scan. Tap “Save” when you’re finished. The scanned document will be attached as a PDF to your email.
Sending Your Email
Once you’ve attached your photo or other files, simply fill in the recipient’s email address, add a subject line, and compose your message. Then, tap the send button to send your email. Remember large files might be sent using Mail Drop. Refer to Apple’s documentation for Mail Drop limits if needed.
